Successful Fundraising Event for Gang Chen's City Council Campaign
On August 24, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., a successful fundraising event was held for Gang Chen, a candidate running for Irvine City Council in District 2. The event, held within District 2 of Irvine, brought together community leaders, residents, and supporters, all eager to hear about Chen’s vision for the future of Irvine and to show their support for his campaign.
A highlight of the evening was the appearance of Christina Shea, former Irvine Mayor and City Councilmember. Shea, a respected leader in the community, delivered an inspiring speech, fully endorsing Gang Chen for his commitment to the city and his extensive contributions to the community. She specifically praised Chen for his work on the City of Irvine’s Green Ribbon Environmental Committee, where he demonstrated his dedication to environmental sustainability and improving the quality of life for all Irvine residents.

Following Shea's remarks, Gang Chen took the stage to share his vision for Irvine and outline his key campaign focuses. Chen emphasized his commitment to making Irvine a first-class city while preserving its unique character. His campaign is built around three main pillars: enhancing public safety, improving traffic management, and promoting managed growth that aligns with the city’s needs and values.

Chen also detailed several specific goals he aims to achieve if elected:
-
Opposing the development of over 5,200 new housing units in Irvine’s District 2
-
Supporting the creation of a much-needed local library for families, children, and seniors
-
Advocating for a smaller, more community-friendly amphitheater rather than a massive Live Nation venue
-
Stopping the expansion of the Frank R. Bowerman landfill/dump close to residential areas
-
Supporting the development of a needed retail center to serve the local community
Chen's speech resonated with the attendees, many of whom expressed their agreement with his priorities and their support for his candidacy. The atmosphere at the event was energetic and optimistic, reflecting the strong community backing for Chen’s campaign. Attendees mingled, discussed Chen’s platform, and offered words of encouragement for his campaign efforts.
The event not only provided a platform for Chen to share his vision but also helped raise substantial funds to support his campaign initiatives. The success of the fundraiser highlighted the growing momentum behind Gang Chen’s bid for a seat on the Irvine City Council and underscored his potential to make a significant impact on the future of the city.
