Dear Friends and Neighbors,

My name is Gang (pronounced "Gong") Chen. Irvine is a great city, however, there is definitely room for improvement. The quality of life has gone down in the past few years. The main reasons are the recent crime issues, traffic problems and increased housing prices.

I graduated from USC in 1993 with a Master’s degree. I have lived in Irvine since 1997. Irvine gave me and my family great opportunities, and I want to give back to my community. This is why I am running. I am a licensed professional architect, a LEED AP BD+C, and a real estate broker (DRE#01232392). I have served on the City of Irvine’s Green Ribbon Environmental Committee.

My campaign platform is one vision with three focuses.  The vision I have for Irvine is to become a first-class city while still maintaining its unique features. My focuses are safety, traffic, and managed growth.

Irvine belongs to all of us. Let us work together to make Irvine better. As your city councilmember in District 2, I will:

  • Stop the expansion of the Frank R. Bowerman landfill/dump close to our homes

  • Support the needed retail center in our community

  • Create a world-class library in the Great park for our families, children, seniors and community

  • Support the creation of safe bike lanes and related bike infrastructure

  • Develop a comprehensive school bus system

  • Oppose the more than 57,000 new housing units proposed in our city

  • Stop the increased crime in our district

  • Support the smaller amphitheater, not the massive Live Nation Amphitheater

Thank you for your support. I would be honored to have your vote.
